Real wood is a natural product cut from a tree and machined. It is avaliable in solid timber right the way through and also engineered which is a solid wood product with a ply or man made core. The beauty of engineered is the fact you would have a real wood finish but with the ease of fitting laminate due to the fact many of them are on a click fitting system. Real wood flooring would have to be nailed, screwed or glue dirtectly to a subfloor.
In terms of finish, there are plenty of choices, from lacquer to oiled and hand scraped to distressed.
Oak, maple and walnut all with different finishes i.e stains and lacquers.
Real wood may not be as tough and durable as laminate but each piece is unique, meaning you won’t see repetition, like you will recieve with laminate.
